Life of disabled person

People who became disable doesn’t have a really good lifes, their lifes are a daily fight. That’s why I decided to talk about my aunt who became handicaped 18 years ago.

At the age of 32 she had a bacterial meningitis and that illness made her lost a big part of her body, from feets to stomac. Because of that now she can’t walk anymore.

My first question was  » did it hurt when you realised that your legs didn’t work? » and she said that it didn’t hurt but she had have the impression of having her legs working like before but it was just a impression. After I asked her how she felt when she learned that and she explained me that the doctor have said that the bacterium could have touched her heart and killed her but she kept calm and prayed. She told me that it saved her life and i really was amazed.

After that disease her life wasn’t the same anymore not just for mobility but for everything, she found it dificult to work, coock, take a shower alone, to take care of her children… But now things are diferents because she adapt her life of handicaped compared to « normal » life. At the end of the interview she told me that bad things never happen without a reason and maybe if she wasn’t disable she couldn’t know how to enjoy little things that life give you. She changed my mind and learned me to enjoy the life.
